A paper coauthored with Hazel Ford, Monica Marshall and Damian Cohall assessing predictors for sustainable management of Type 2 Diabetes using evidence based guidelines in the public primary care in Barbados has been published Ethn Dis (Nov 2014).

A paper coauthored with Gaskin PS, Willie D, and Durant TC describing the status in the Caricom countries of five nutrition related Millennium Development Goals has been published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health (May 2014).

Our paper ‘Hepatitis C in dialysis patients: Relationship to blood transfusions, dialysis and liver disease’ from 1993 has now been sited 100 times and the paper  ‘Epidemiology of injuries in Danish championship tennis’ from 1989 has now reached 75 citations.(According to statistics from Google Scholar) (April 2014)

A paper coauthored with Singh K., Krishnamurthy K., Krishnamurthy L., Greaves C. and Alok K. that for the first time describes the prevalence of major congenital malformations in Barbados has been published in ISRN Obstetrics and Gynecology (April 2014)

Dr Alok Kumar recived the 2013 Fred L. Soper Award for Excellence in Public Health Literature as lead author for our paper “Epidemiological trends and clinical manifestations of dengue among children in one of the English-speaking Caribbean countries. The award was presented on Sept. 30 2013 during a special event held at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC”. A paper coauthored with Alok Kumar and Marquita Gittens-St Hilaire that for the first time describes the epidemiology and disease characterization of dengue in Barbados,and quantifies the morbidity and mortality among children for this rapidly emerging public health problem in the Caribbean. Dr.Nielsen did present the paper 'Simulating the need for renal replacement therapy capacity'  by Anders L.Nielsen, Alok Kumar, Philip Nielsen and Susanne Petersen at The Society for Modeling & Simulation International's 2012 Autumn Simulation Multi-Conference (AutumnSim'12) San Diego, October, 2012.

Dr Mike Campbell presented results from our study 'Depression and Quality of Life for Patients Attending Diabetes Specialist Clinics in Barbados' at the 30th International Congress of Psychology, Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday 25 July 2012.

Anders Lassen Nielsen MD, MPA, MPH having fulfilled the requirements as to the qualifications in the specialty of Aerospace Medicine has achieved Associate Fellowship status of The Aerospace Medical Association. May 2012.

Anders Lassen Nielsen, M.D., MPA, who was serving as CMO at Simrishamn Hospital in Sweden, accepted the position of Senior Lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, in September 2006.
